International students require five years work or two years University experience and a TOEFL score of 550 (or TOEIC, IELTS or equivalent) to apply to the CBA – Fast Track. Students who study a high level of English at UVic’s English Language Centre do not have to submit a TOEFL score.
International students who complete the CBA – Fast Track program have the opportunity to gain professional Canadian work experience through our six-week Business Internship program. The Business Internship program is an excellent opportunity for international students to enhance their resume through practical work experience and further develop their business English skills in fields such as:
- Tourism and Hospitality
- Event Coordination
- Marketing and Communications
- Office Administration
International students who complete the CBA – Fast Track program can also choose to continue their education with a DBA. Upon graduation from the diploma program, students are usually eligible to apply for an open post-graduation work permit in Canada for one year. This exciting opportunity has allowed many international students to receive a prestigious certificate and diploma from UVic, and also to gain longer-term work experience in Canada.
During the full-time, unpaid internship, students participate in the daily activities of a Canadian organization and gain excellent experience to add to their resumes. At the end of the work term (150–280 professional hours), each student receives a letter of recommendation and a certificate of participation.
