Education System
Secondary - High School
High school in New Zealand starts from Year 9 – 13 or at the age from 13 – 18 years old. New Zealand had more than 400 schools, where most of them are co-ed schools; some schools are either all girls or all boys’ schools. These schools are mostly called high schools or grammar schools or college.
Most schools will arrange for international students to live with New Zealand families and arrange for parents in New Zealand, which is called guardian. They will act as parents of the students, in the case of an emergency. Some schools will have boarding for students. When students finish the Year 13, they will receive a NCEA Level 3 (National Certificate of Educational Achievement).

Diploma level
Applicants must be over 18 years of age and has and IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL 550. Students who finished their first year in Thailand are able to enter into the New Zealand University, however, for students who finish Mathayom 6 will have to go through a one year foundation course. If student are already studying in New Zealand, they would have to finish Year 13 or enter polytechnic for 2 years and transfer they credits to continue into university for another 2 years for a bachelor degree.
Master’s / Doctorial level
Has and IELTS of 6.5 or TOEFL of 600 and has a GPA not lower than 3.00, has work experience, offer details of dissertation, and personal background.
Term time
Language course receives students all year round. High schools are separated into 4 semesters:
Term 1 : February – April Term 2 : April – June
Term 3 : July – September Term 4 : October – December
Polytechnic Institution and University has 2 semesters: Starts in February and July some institutions separate into 3 terms: February, June, and August.
Geography
New Zealand is made up of islands in the Pacific Ocean; with an area of around 268,105 square kilometer, with the combination of 2 main islands and other small islands.
The country’s topography consist of long beaches, lakes and fjord, some areas are rich plain field, hot spring, mud pit, extinct and existing volcano’s and high mountain top covered with snow.

Hamilton is a city that has the river Waikato, which is the longest in the country passing through. Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, is the harbor between the island in the north and south. Rotorua is the town where mud pits can be seen all around.Southern Island has Christchurch, the largest city in the southern region. It’s a town with plain field; river passes through and has British style parks. Dunedin is an educational city, where the University of Otago Queenstown, the oldest university is located. This city is famous worldwide, with lakes and high mountain tops suitable for skiing. In addition, activities well-know among tourist; bungy jump, luge, water rafting, lake sightseeing, parachuting, etc.
Population
New Zealand has about 3.9 million people, the majority comes from Europe like; England, Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands, the minority are from Maoli tribe and Polynesians from different island, others are educated people that has the government support to migrate into the country.
Most migrants are Asians and Polynesians, so the New Zealand society is made up of different languages. Most of the populations are Christians.
