University of La Verne ก่อตั้งเมื่อ ปี 1891 ใช้ชื่อว่า Lordsburg College ล้อมรอบไปด้วยชุมชนเกษตรกรรม ในปี 1917 เปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น University of La Verne เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชน ได้รับการรับรองจากสมาคม the Western Association of Schools and College และสมาชิกของ Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business ที่นี้เปิดหลักสูตรทั้งระดับปริญญาตรี และปริญญาโท
